National Yoga Institute
Welcome!
NYI
The National Yoga Institute assures each aspirant will learn how to balance, harmonize, and strengthen their awareness in the study and practice of the 8-fold path from the ancient teachings of Yoga Philosophy. Students will learn self-discipline through the nature of body, mind and spirit. We believe a strong foundation in the Philosophy of Yoga combined with the practical application will create a path that can lead to becoming a professional yoga teacher.

Why Should You Teach Yoga?

The ultimate goal of yoga is kaivalya, or freedom, from the afflictions of the body and the wavering of the mind so that a sadhaka (practitioner) may transcend the obstacles to spiritual development and find samadhi, that state in which all division among body, mind, and spirit dissolve. To help seekers to attain this state, the ancient sage Patanjali laid out the detailed 8-fold path of yoga. Anyone who has practiced yoga regularly has undoubtedly come to intimately know the physical benefits of increased strength and suppleness as well as the accompanying mental peace and clarity and perhaps has even touched the pure serenity of communing deeply with the Spirit. A The desire to teach yoga springs from the pure intention to relieve the sufferings of our fellow humankind.

Are You ready?
We recommend that students have a regular yoga practice for at least six months before commiting to the NYI Yoga Teacher Training. However, the real deciding factor is your pure intentions. Any person who genuinely desires to reduce the suffering of others through yoga and who is willing to put forth regular and dedicated effort will be successful in this course. This program is also perfect for those who may not desire to teach right now but are looking for a powerful way to learn the more subtle aspects of yoga and deepen their own practice.

What Can an Already Advanced Practitioner of Yoga Gain from this Course?

What one learns in a hatha yoga class rarely scratches the surface of the full extent of yoga. The physical postures are just the beginning of a life-changing journey. Formal training is necessary to fully grasp the expanse of yoga’s gifts. Furthermore, being an adept student does NOT make one an adept teacher. Knowing and teaching are different and the methodology of teaching is important. Also, National Yoga Alliance certification (which you will receive upon completion of this program) has become almost a necessity for anyone who wishes to teach yoga in the US.
